2001 BMW E53 X5

As our strive to better ourselves as an aspiring Racecar driver and Team, the need to haul things around and make our escapades to the track also means we need to be more efficient, so a true Work Horse was required in the important role of needing a family hauler to do just that: HAUL. And Haul he does ladies and gents.

Say Hello to Lil’ Chief, the new FJD Performance service/support vehicle AND more importantly, Amber’s new vehicle that she lets us borrow for racecar stuff…occasionally. We acquired this 2001 BMW X5 back in February from essentially the original owner who used to be a Local BMW big wig in So Cal, but got a little too old to keep and maintain the X5, so we had no issue taking the X5 off his hands as we had a need for Chiefs services! We picked the car up with slightly over 114K original miles; He boogies around town with 282 BHP and 324LB-FT of Torque, and to make it even better, He is AWD! Lets go off-roading!

We put Lil’ Chief (and Frank) to the test back in May when we towed The Mare and Chief never once stuttered. Fuckin’ Stud, Eh? The BMW performed flawlessly, even when The Mare did not… Sadly we blew the motor in The Mare at Sonoma in May of this year (2022) and we at least were able to take her home ourselves once we loaded her up, so thank goodness for Chief! We couldn’t be happier with this pick up. Before the tow Frank got around to some much needed attention and Andrew did manage to do some smaller detailing once the package was secured. Maybe in the future Amber will let us do some off-road upgrade goodies, I mean, we did get away with a custom Apex wheel stud kit!
